Silk loom

128_2857

This lady was taking the silk off the cocoons. She put the cocoons of silk worms into boiling water where it would soften the threads. She would then begin pulling off the threads. The first part of the thread was not good to use and she could tell when the thread was good to use by the feel of the thread. When the thread was ready she took the thread from several cocoons and pulled it up to spooler to be wound while spinning the spool with a foot peddle.
