Rug shop

Turkish people are known for their rug making. We visited a school that is teaching women to make the high quality rugs. In modern times many people no longer make rugs at home, so to keep the traditional hand made rugs going the Ministry of Culture helps to support this school. They put the yarn on large looms and follow a pattern from a grid sheet they make before starting the rug. The rug is made by making knots of yarn.
