Rug sales room

This is the room where they sold us a carpet. The school had young men who would unroll the carpets to “show you” the different styles and textures. An older salesman talked about the carpets (what they were made of, what the pattern was, and what different traditions were involved). There were carpets all over the floor when they were done. The man explaining the carpets encouraged us to take our shoes off and walk around on the carpets to feel the difference between the types of material used and the qualities of the different carpets. He then gave us the prices and began the process of asking us to buy a carpet. It was kind of high pressure sales. Jeff stopped him at one point and said, if he wanted to sell Ang a carpet he needed to leave and let us discuss it otherwise Ang would not buy. The men left and let us talk about it. Later Jeff was able to talk down the price of a 4 foot by 6 foot rug by about $300, and we bought it. Ang was very upset about the price we paid at first, but hopes now that we have an heirloom from the trip.
