Prostitute house

The ladies house (prostitute house) was across the main street from the library. Our tour guide said that the married men would tell their wives that they were going to a seminar or to study at the library, but would sneak from the library to the brothel through a secret tunnel.

Because fertility was important, the women who wanted to have children would go to a place next to the brothel where they drank from the water flowing from the statue of, Priapos, a god with a very large penis. When they were done with the water and excited, conveniently there were often men at the brothel nearby where the women could go and find men for their pleasure.
